The owners of High Point Meadows have breathed fresh life into this 1970s home, emphasizing light and cozy comforts. Located in a terribly pretty part of Olivebridge, that is alive with farming, it is also very handy to eateries (trendy Phoenicia Diner and The Country Inn one mile up the road), pampering (Emerson Resort & Spa), and galleries in Woodstock.
With twelve acres, however, the property itself is a big attraction, featuring a large lawn for games; a 400 square foot deck for lounging, grilling, and gazing out at the picturesque fields and red barn in the distance; further down the property is a fire pit for that quintessential Upstate evening ritual; and a swimming pond with a dock and row boat is situated just beyond.
The heart of the home is a cathedral-ceilinged "great room" with a comfortable lounge area in front of the wood stove with stone chimney. Pretty blue and white tiles add a dash of color to the otherwise streamlined kitchen that is in one area of the great room, with the dining table rounding out the the balance of the room. The wall of windows looking toward the fields in the back drench the room in wonderful natural light.
The master suite (queen) is upstairs, accessed via a spiral staircase (not great for little kids), and feels cozy with its rustic rough cut barn siding on the pitched ceiling, while enjoying sunshine from the skylight and the slider that leads out to a balcony with a pleasing view. The modern bath has a glass-enclosed shower.
A short corridor off the main room kicks off with another modern bathroom with a sliding "barn door" and tub/shower. The guest bedroom (queen) with wall of open bookshelves, aka "The Library" presents a huge variety of books (travel, fashion, photography, kids, etc.) and collectibles that you'll surely find yourself exploring. The bunk bedroom at the end of the hall has two built-in twins, and the owners have installed custom stairs with built-in shelving for easy access for little folks to the top bunk. There is a pull-out bed in that room too.
If you are partial to skiing, the slopes at Belleayre are approximately 40 minutes away.
